A person on the international wanted list has been extradited to Azerbaijan, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office told APA.

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters dated January 22, 1993, the request of the Prosecutor General's Office for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Ruslan Ali Asgarov was granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Moldova.

Thus, as reasonable suspicions were established that Ruslan Ali Asgarov, born in 1981, had organized a contract killing in a criminal case under preliminary investigation by the Samukh District Prosecutor's Office, a decision was made to charge him as an accused person, and he was placed on the international wanted list after fleeing and hiding from the investigation.

Ruslan Asgarov was detained in the territory of the Republic of Moldova and brought to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.

Note that the preliminary investigation against two other persons in the same criminal case – Elvin Gardashali Mehdiyev (the perpetrator) and Tural Arastun Yusifov (the accomplice) – had previously been completed by the Samukh District Prosecutor's Office, and the criminal case was sent to court for consideration.

By a verdict of the Ganja Court on Grave Crimes, E. Mehdiyev was sentenced to 18 years and T. Yusifov to 16 years of imprisonment.
