Minister Ali Abbasov: Azercell is the first candidate to get 3G license

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan’s largest mobile carrier Azercell Telekom may be granted a license to provide 3G services in the country, said Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.

“Azercell is the first candidate to receive a 3G license,” he said.

According to the minister, the spread of 3G services in the country depends on how the cellular market is supplied with mobile devices supporting 3G.

According to the regulations approved by Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers, in order to get a license for 3G mobile services, an applicant shall submit a document about the stages of putting the network in operation, specifications of network equipment, information on zone coverage and types of services, the experience in a 3G experimental zone, as well reference showing the availability of the applied radio frequencies as approved by the State Commission for Radio Frequencies. The license fee is AZN 11 000.
