All issues related to freight, insurance, and diesel fuel supplies to the United States have actually already been resolved, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists, Izvestiya reports.
"Believe me, all issues related to freight, insurance and supplies will be resolved. Now suppliers and buyers have to sign documents between themselves," TASS quoted him as saying.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation added that the lifting of US sanctions restrictions for six months eliminated obstacles to the export of Russian diesel to the US market.
Novak also noted that Russia's diesel fuel production capacity is twice as large as the needs of the domestic market. Even taking into account the repair work on individual installations, production volumes are sufficient both to provide Russian consumers and to carry out export deliveries.
The day before, Novak allowed the start of deliveries of diesel to the United States from Russia in two to three weeks. According to him, Russian oil companies are ready to start supplies at any moment. However, actual exports have not yet begun, as the parties continue to negotiate the terms of commercial contracts.
Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the deal on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the United States could positively affect the situation on the fuel market, but would not lead to its complete stabilization.
