Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. The ICT sector growth rate reached 13.7%in Azerbaijan in 2009, said Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov at the Cabinet meeting.
He added that the ICT sector growth exceeded the global average by 2 times.
According to him, the number of connections to the cellular network increased by 1.1 million in Azerbaijan.
“As a result, the number of mobile phones per 100 people increased by 85.6 in the country, 25% higher than the average world level,†he noted.
Ali Abbasov also said that during the reporting year the 90 000 new fixed-line telephones were connected to the network.
He noted that work will be continued in 2010 to achieve the objective of 100 phone per 100 families project.
