Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. The number of computers per 100 people in increased by approximately 50% in Azerbaijan during 2009, said Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.

He stressed that the growth was achieved through the implementation of the People’s Computer Project which allow low-income families to get on credit computers at prices 25-30% below market.

The Minister also spoke about the introduction of ICT in schools, and recent buoyancy in provision of e-services to taxpayers, automation in the customs, migration, health, pensions, justice, transport, etc.

"The e-services in the central and local executive bodies have reached such a level that there is a need for their integration in a single e-government portal. For this reason, there is work under way for the E-governance project. A national certification center for the introduction of e-signatures will soon be launched and e-signature ID cards for will be distributed to state authorities, legal and natural persons from this year,” he added.
