Delta Telecom setting up regional network

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-Economics. Delta Telecom, a fast growing service provider in the Caucasus region, will complete the expansion of Azerbaijanâ€™s first commercial WiMAX 802.16e-2005 (Rev-e) network in Baku and Absheron Peninsula by April, said Rahid Elekberli, technical director of the company.

In his words, Delta Telecom will launch network expansion activities to extend its coverage area to Gandja, Nakhchivan, Shirvan, Sumagit and Lenkeran.

This new network will provide Delta Telecomâ€™s customers with high-speed Internet access as well as other data services and voice over IP (VoIP).

This technology accommodates stationary, nomadic and mobile applications and will complement Delta Telecomâ€™s existing fixed broadband services in sparsely populated areas, where technical and economic factors sometimes make fixed broadband deployments impractical.

Delta Telecom is the leading telecom operator in the Caucasus region. The company provides professional telecommunication and communication services on the basis of the license 001514 given on December 30, 2005 by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic. The platform based DVB-RCS technologies provides professional telephony services to hundreds of villages in mountainous areas. More than three thousand VSAT stations provide high-speed Internet, data and telephony services in the regions inaccessible over terrestrial infrastructures.
