Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Azerbaijan will create a user database in line with the requirements of the Convention on Cybercrime by the end of the year, said Mushfig Amirov, spokesperson of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.

According to him, the database is being developed by Smart Systems Technology

The Convention on Cybercrime is the first international treaty seeking to address cybercrime and Internet crimes by harmonizing national laws, improving investigative techniques and increasing cooperation among nations.
It is the first international treaty on crimes committed via the Internet and other computer networks, dealing particularly with infringements of copyright, computer-related fraud, child pornography and violations of network security. It also contains a series of powers and procedures such as the search of computer networks and interception.

Azerbaijan ratified the convention in September 2008. The country’s acceding to the Convention burdens it with the commitment to form a national information security system.

The Institute of Information Technologies under Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences developed and submitted to the Government a draft national information security system based on international practice.
