Azerbaijanâ€™s information society indicators above world average

Baku. Aynur Veliyeva - APA-ECONOMICS. Most of Azerbaijanâ€™s information society indicators are above the global average, said at an ITU Workshop on Information Society Measurements in the CIS area.

The main objective of the workshop in held in Baku was to take stock and to advance the availability of comparable data on ICT access to, and use of ICTs in household, and by individuals and businesses in the CIS region.

Rufat Gulmammadov, Information Society Officer of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, said that the countryâ€™s statistical committee was the first in the CIS area to regularly release information society indicators.

"This was welcomed by the International Telecommunication Union, so the workshop was held in Azerbaijan,â€ he added.

"In the near future, Azerbaijan will be among the world’s top ten countries according to the information society indicators. There are all necessary environment, regulatory framework and future projects,â€ he underscored.
