The success of agricultural transformation depends not only on the introduction of new technologies but also on improving farmers' knowledge and skills, expanding their access to modern solutions, and ensuring that small farms benefit from innovations, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said during his speech at an event dedicated to World Food Day, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the main goal is to increase productivity and farmers' incomes, as well as improve living standards in rural areas:
"The development of processing, storage, and logistics infrastructure also serves to reduce product losses, create added value, and generate employment opportunities. Expanding international cooperation also plays an important role in achieving the objectives of the State Program. Deepening cooperation with international organizations, as well as countries with advanced agricultural practices, exchanging modern technologies and knowledge, and conducting joint research are among our main priorities.
Taking this opportunity, I congratulate the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which celebrates its 81st anniversary this year."
The minister noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and FAO in ensuring food security and safety continues successfully:
"Projects implemented jointly with the organization, as well as measures and initiatives carried out within the framework of COP29, contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and ensuring global food security."
