Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has issued a statement on the fire occurred on an offshore platform.
A repair platform at the 441st platform of the oil and gas management ‘Narimanneft’ of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) collapsed, the company told APA. As a result, a small wagon-house on the platform fell into the sea. The fire occurred as a pipeline with a diameter of 700 mm over the platform was disrupted.
Ships of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Caspian Shipping Company, Vortex-5 fire ship arrived on the site.
SOCAR said additional information would be given after the investigation of the reasons of the fire.
The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA that the fire has already been extinguished.
“Rescuers are trying to save one person fallen into the sea.”
