Judicial investigation into accident in Baku Athletesâ€™ Village completed

Baku. Shahriyar Alizade â€“ APA. The Baku Court on Grave Crimes on Friday resumed the hearing on the case of those found guilty over a road accident in Athletesâ€™ Village during the Baku-2015 European Games.

Support manager of the European Games organizing committee, Sahil Ahmadov, gave testimony during the hearing presided over by judge Javid Huseynov. Sahil Ahmadov said the bus had undergone complete technical inspection and the accident happened because of the unskilled driver.

The court then announced the end of the investigation.

The hearing will continue on June 17. During the upcoming hearing, the prosecutor will give a speech.

Note that on 11 June 2015, the Austrian synchronized swimmers â€“ Vanessa Sahinovic and Luna Pajer got in a traffic accident on the territory of the transport depot in the Athletesâ€™ Village in Baku.

Vali Ahmadov, whose shuttle bus struck the Austrian athletes in Baku, the deputy head of the State Road Traffic Service Huseyn Salamov and camera operator of "Safe City Service" Elchin Hasanov were detained over the accident.

Adviser of Department of Passenger Transportation of the State Road Transport Service under the Ministry of Transport, Farid Amiraslanov was also detained, but no preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against him.

A criminal case has been launched against Vali Ahmadov under article #263.1.1 (Infringement by the person managing automobile, tram or other mechanical vehicle, rules of traffic or operation of vehicles, committed on imprudence entailed causing of less serious or minor serious harm to health of a victim) of the Criminal Code. Salmanov and Hasanov are charged under article 308 (abuse of official powers), Amiraslanov under Article 314 (negligence). Unlike others, Amiraslanov was not put in pretrial detention. He was released on bail.
