Baku – APA. An attempt to violate the state border of Iran from Azerbaijan has been prevented, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan told APA.
A group consisting of 8-10 people tried to cross the Iranian border from the Azerbaijani Dashkend village of Yardimli district.
The mentioned group of people ignored the calls to stop and the warning shots, and opened fire at the border guards. As a result of skirmish, five people people have been wounded and two more got arrested.
In spite of medical aid, the wounded died.
The trespassers were citizens of Bangladesh, along with their guides, who were armed, said the State Border Service.
The operation revealed shotgun cartridges and one Bowning pistol.
A team led by the Commander of Border Troops, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev is on site.
Investigation on fact is underway.
