Azerbaijanis detained while attempting to cross into Syria from Turkey named

The detainees are – Pashayeva Simnara Simral, born in 1991, her 10-month old baby Pashayeva Maryam Araz, Musayeva Aynur Vahid, born in 1996, and Alimatov Abdul Azad, born in 1990.

According to received information, husband of Pashayeva, who attempted to go Syria with her baby, is currently fighting under the Islamic State.

Azerbaijani Consul General to Istanbul Hasan Zeynalov told APA that the detainees would be deported to Azerbaijan in the coming days: “They are currently being questioned. Then all of them will be deported to Azerbaijan.”

4 Azerbaijani citizens were detained while attempting to cross into Syria in Kilis province of Turkey.

Kilis province police office received information about the attempt of a group of 22 people to cross the border in Asagi Beylerbeyi village of the province on Turkey’s Syria border. While checking their ID cards, it was revealed that 4 of them are members of an Azerbaijani family.

The detainees were handed over to the police office’s department on work with foreigners for deportation.
