Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. The Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine has called on Azerbaijanis living in Luhansk and Donetsk to immediately leave the region. Shahin Ojaqov, representative of the Defense Ministry to the embassy, said in his statement to APA that Azerbaijanis residing in the conflict zone are recommended to move at least to the west of Ukraine. He added that as one part of that region is now completely out of control, it’s impossible to clarify details of anything happening there or help eliminate its consequences.

Shahin Ojaqov also spoke of businessman Telman Jafarov, one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani Diaspora who were reported dead: “In this regard, we have appealed to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, law enforcement bodies and international organizations. We are making every effort to attain authentic information about him. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to access to that region as it’s a conflict zone”.

Note that, businessman Telman Jafarov, one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani Diaspora and Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijanis Congress in Ukraine's Luhansk Province, was reportedly killed by separatists with a machine gun assault on July 30. The incident took place in the evening of the same day around the Kamenko village near Luhansk. His body is said to have remained in the area controlled by separatists. Apart from Telman Jafarov, other three Azerbaijanis—Mahir, Nuraddin, and Eldar—also received injuries in the separatist attack. According to information, Telman Jafarov and his acquaintances were assaulted while trying to release their animals belonging to their farm work.
