Baku. Fuad Jafarov – APA. The statistics of traffic accidents occurred in Azerbaijan this year have been made public.
Chief of the public affairs department of the State Traffic Police Office Kamran Aliyev told APA that 2212 traffic accidents occurred within the ten months of 2014. Consequently, 951 people died, 2227 were injured.
Compared to the previous year, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 214, death toll by 20 and number of the injured by 331 facts.
During the reporting period, 50 traffic accidents were caused by drunken drivers. Consequently, 25 died, 59 were injured.
637 traffic accidents occurred due to exceeding the speed limit. As a result, 330 people died, 517 were injured.
85 children died, 195 were injured in the traffic accidents occurred during the reporting period.
Aliyev mentioned that during this period 761 traffic accidents occurred in the capital in which 266 people died, 744 were injured.
Compared to the previous year, the number of traffic accidents in the capital decreased by 85, death toll by 18 and number of the injured by 102 facts.
