Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh –APA. 78 people died, 287 were injured in 267 traffic accidents occurred in the first two months of 2016, Baku State Traffic Police Office told APA on March 12.
19 people died, 105 were injured in 100 traffic accidents in Baku, 2 people died in 2 traffic accidents in Nakhchivan, 28 people died, 160 were injured in 135 traffic accidents occurred on district roads and 28 people died, 18 were injured in 26 traffic accidents occurred on inter-district roads.
During two months 115 traffic accidents resulted in pedestrian crashes, which left 40 people dead and 80 injured.
97 traffic accidents took place due to violation of overrunning. As a result, 29 people died, 114 were injured. 25 people died, 53 were injured in 62 traffic accidents caused by overspeed. 5 traffic accidents were caused by drunken drivers which left one person dead and 4 injured.
Bus drivers caused 20 traffic accidents in 2 months. As a result, 8 people died, 16 were injured. 6 people died, 14 were injured in 16 traffic accidents caused by trucks.
Many of the accidents were collisions, which make up 34.2 percent of the total number of accidents. 569 collisions have left 225 people dead and 792 injured. Another 86 people were killed and 183 injured in 179 overturn accidents. 88 more people were killed 195 injured after being hit by vehicles.
During the period 4 children died, 22 were injured in traffic accidents. Two of them were pedestrians, 1 was passenger and 1 was rider of cycle.
Compared to the relevant period of last year, the number of road accidents decreased by 106 cases, the death toll – by 74 cases and the number of injured – by 287 cases.
