Trial begins for person accused of membership in criminal group formed outside Azerbaijan

A preliminary court hearing has been held in the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service against Sanan Rahimli, who is accused of being a member of a criminal organization formed outside the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Today, during the hearing at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Nigar Imanova, the defendant’s personal details were clarified.

The criminal case has been referred for trial, and the first hearing on the merits has been scheduled for January 13.

Note that Sanan Rahimli has been formally charged under Articles 12.1 (application of criminal law to crimes committed outside the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan), 218.2 (participation in a criminal organization, including an association of organizers, leaders, or other representatives of organized groups), and 283-1.3 (participation, under the guise of spreading religious sects, performing religious rites, or on the basis of religious hostility, in armed conflicts and combat training conducted outside the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
