Students, who were poisoned by smoke at a school in the village of Ashagi Gushchu, Tovuz district, have been released home, TABIB told APA.

The number of people poisoned by smoke at a school in the village of Ashagi Gushchu, Tovuz district, has reached 71, APA's local bureau reports.

"On December 19, at around 11:00, a call was received by the Republican Center for Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid regarding a suspected mass poisoning from carbon monoxide among students at a school in Ashaghi Gushchu village, Tovuz district," Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) of Azerbaijan told APA.

"Emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene. According to the latest information, 60 people have been hospitalized at the Tovuz District Central Hospital. The victims were placed in the relevant departments. They are currently being provided with necessary medical services. Their condition is stable. Already, 27 people have been discharged for outpatient treatment," TABIB stated.

TABIB noted that emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

"As of 13:20, 55 people were hospitalized at the Tovuz District Central Hospital. The victims were placed in the Emergency and Urgent Medical Aid, Reanimation, Surgery, and Infectious Disease departments. Necessary medical services are being provided to each of them," TABIB stated.

A poisoning case has been recorded at a secondary school in Azerbaijan's Tovuz, APA's local bureau reports.

The incident occurred at secondary school No. 1 in Ashagi Gushchu village of the district.

Up to 20 students have been hospitalized with a diagnosis of poisoning. According to initial information, the poisoning was caused by a stove used for heating the school. It is reported that they were poisoned by the smoke.
