Milli Majlis: Hybrid attacks against Azerbaijan have intensified

The scale of religious and ideological provocations, coordinated information operations, and cyberattacks against Azerbaijan has reportedly increased, APA reports.

This was stated in a statement issued by the Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats.

The statement emphasized that hybrid attacks by foreign actors against Azerbaijan have expanded amid the country's growing international reputation, its role in energy security, its strategic importance in regional transit corridors, and domestic stability.

According to the commission, investigations conducted jointly with relevant state authorities have identified activities aimed at manipulating public opinion, creating polarization in society, and undermining trust in state institutions.

It was noted that these operations are carried out through agents of influence operating both inside and outside the country, clandestine organizations, hacker groups, foreign media outlets, fake social media accounts, and bots.

The statement also alleged that certain forces operating in the territories of friendly and neighboring countries are attempting to create ethnic, religious, and political tensions in Azerbaijan by spreading disinformation through channels that appear to be independent.

The commission noted that during hybrid threats, social media algorithms, "echo chambers," and "filter bubble" mechanisms are used to target specific audiences with manipulative content.

At the same time, based on the results of monitoring activities, it was stated that Azerbaijani society has not fallen for such provocations and supports the measures implemented by the state.

The Milli Majlis Temporary Commission stated that hybrid attacks are being prevented in cooperation with relevant state authorities and that such attempts will not go unanswered in the future.

The commission also expressed gratitude to citizens of friendly and neighboring countries who have condemned activities directed against Azerbaijan.
