The attorney general said that at present, he can not make a statement: “Because, it is not correct in terms of law. Tabriz city Prosecutor’s Office informed me about those persons and will inform me again in a short time.”
On April 30, scientific worker of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Institute of Literature named after Nizami, researcher and writer Khalida Khalid and her driver were arrested in Iran. Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz handed a note to Iran. But Iran has not replied to the note yet.
On May 4, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported quoting an official of the Foreign Ministry that the Azerbaijani citizens traveled to Iran as tourists: ““They are charged over illegal activities and relations. Currently, these accusations are being investigated by Iran’s judiciary system.”
