Kazakhstan to release final report on the AZAL plane crash after the investigation is completed

The final report on the reasons for the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines' civilian aircraft near Aktau will be published after the investigation is completed, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Transport told RIA Novosti, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

Investigation conducted in accordance with Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention

"To date, the commission continues its investigations in accordance with the standards and recommended practices of Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention. The final report will be published after the investigation is completed," the statement from the Ministry of Transport said.

Initial report published on February 4, 2024

The Kazakh Ministry of Transport added that the field phase of the investigation has been completed, and an initial report on the plane crash was published on February 4.

Crash details: Plane en route to Grozny crashes near Aktau

It should be noted that on December 25, 2024, a plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. According to the initial report issued by the Kazakh side regarding the crash, the plane lost control and crashed as a result of damage caused by fire opened from the ground near Grozny. The Russian side has also stated that it has created an investigation group for the incident. However, there is no information about the results of the investigation.

29 people survived the crash, and heroic crew members were awarded

The crashed plane had 62 passengers and 5 crew members, and 29 people survived. In accordance with the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, two pilots and one flight attendant who displayed bravery during the crash were posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan, while two flight attendants were awarded the "Rashadat" Order.
