Cooperation in the field of extradition with the Sultanate of Oman continues successfully, Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan told APA.
At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the extradition of Iranian citizen Azadfar Mehdi Mohammadreza, who was put on an internationally wanted list through Interpol, was approved by the Muscat Court of Appeal in the Sultanate of Oman, per the principle of mutual legal assistance under international law.
As there were reasonable grounds to suspect that the individual committed fraud causing significant financial damage, a decision was made to charge him as a defendant. He was placed on an international wanted list after evading investigation and going into hiding. The individual was identified and arrested in Oman in May 2024.
Necessary measures are currently being taken to bring the accused to Azerbaijan.
