The final trial of the criminal case against bloggers living abroad, Tural Sadigli, Elshad Mammadov, Suleyman Suleymanli, Gurban Mammadov, Orkhan Aghayev, Rafael Piriyev, and Ordukhan Teymurkhan, has been held, APA reports.
The verdict was read in absentia in the trial held at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes.
According to the verdict, Gurban Mammadov and Tural Sadiglu were sentenced to 14 years in prison, and Elshad Mammadov, Suleyman Suleymanli, Orkhan Aghayev, Rafael Piriyev, and Ordukhan Teymurkhan were each sentenced to 9 years in prison.
Note that the accused are charged under Articles 178.3.1 (fraud, committed by an organized group), 214-2 (Open calls for terrorism), 220.2 (Mass riot, Active disobedience to the lawful demands of a representative of the authorities and calls for mass riots, as well as violence against citizens), 281.2 (Armed uprising, When the same acts are committed repeatedly or by a group of persons), 320.1 (Forgery of an official document) of the Criminal Code. Since they are outside the country, a preventive measure of arrest in absentia was chosen for them by a court decision.
Khagani Khalilov was identified as the victim.
