The next court hearing was held in the criminal case of Oleg Krapivin, a Ukrainian millionaire known in the criminal world as "Oleg Bakinsky", and Konstantin Kucher, who were arrested in Azerbaijan on charges of hooliganism, APA reports.
In the hearing that took place today at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Elnur Nuriyev, Oleg Krapivin's lawyer filed a petition, stating that his client had serious health issues. He requested his release under house arrest.
The court denied the petition.
The state prosecutor questioned Konstantin Kucher. In response, the defendant stated that he had been engaged in this activity since 2017-2018, selling spare parts exclusively for civilian ships, which cannot be used for military vessels.
He added that the order was placed with part of the victim's money, but the products were detained en route. The reason for this was the Russia-Ukraine war.
He further explained that part of the money from the victim was used for orders, but the shipments were halted due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Even his truck which was sent from Frankfurt to Kazakhstan was seized due to the investigation. He claimed that he intended to return the money but was unable to do so because of the closure of "Günay Bank."
He noted that the funds in his other bank accounts belong to his companies.
Later, the victim, Valeriy Zakharenkov, testified and was provided with a translator as he is a Russian speaker.
The victim stated that both defendants had physically assaulted him. His testimony contradicted the defendants' statements. In response, Zakharenkov said that everything was documented in the medical examination.
A witness, S. Ziryanov, also testified during the session.
The trial will continue on February 12.
Note that "Oleg Bakinsky" was arrested in Baku last year for alleged hooliganism against a Russian citizen. He was charged under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons, accompanied by violence against the victim or destruction/damage of another's property). A pretrial detention measure was imposed against him.
Later, he was also charged under Article 178.4 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed causing particularly large financial damage).
Alongside "Oleg Bakinsky," Konstantin Antonovich Kucher, who served as Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Industry for Aviation Affairs in 2010-2011, has also been found guilty in the case.
The victims in the case are identified as "Aviazapchast" JSC, "Promyshlennye Postavki Kazakhstan" LLC, and Zakharenkov Valeriy Nikolayevich.
