10 kilograms of marijuana smuggled into the country via drone were discovered near a riverbank in the Astara district, APA's southern bureau reports.
37-year-old Javid Hasanov - a previously convicted individual who came to retrieve the suspicious packages which were dropped by UAV and had their location transmitted - was detained by Astara District Police Department officers.
The investigation revealed the suspect had arrangements with an Iranian national (currently under investigation) responsible for distributing the narcotics to various addresses.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, with the suspect placed in pre-trial detention. Investigative actions are ongoing.
