Explosion-like sounds were heard Saturday evening in several locations along Iran's Persian Gulf coast, including Qeshm Island, Sirik, Jask and Bandar Abbas, Iranian state television reports.
State news agency IRNA reported two explosions in the eastern part of Qeshm Island, while residents also reported hearing explosions in Jask.
The cause of the sounds remains unclear. A state television reporter suggested they could be related to Iranian military operations to defend the Strait of Hormuz.
