US forces struck and disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Saturday after what they said were repeated attempts by its crew to breach Washington's naval blockade against Iran, Iran International reports.
US Central Command said on Saturday that a military aircraft fired precision munitions at the stern of the St. Kitts-flagged M/V Huda after warning its civilian crew to leave the targeted areas. The vessel had visited an Iranian port and was attempting to leave regional waters, CENTCOM said.
CENTCOM said US forces had redirected 147 commercial vessels that complied with blockade orders since July and disabled five merchant ships that refused to comply.
It also said US forces had previously destroyed 10 Iranian commercial oil tankers belonging to what it described as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' multibillion-dollar shadow network. CENTCOM warned vessels operating near Iran to comply with US blockade instructions.
