Azerbaijan's Consulate General in Tabriz holds event dedicated to Victory Day

An event dedicated to November 8 – Victory Day was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Tabriz, APA reports.

The event was attended by Morteza Mohammadzadeh, deputy governor of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province for political and social affairs, Davud Garshasbi, governor of the city of Tabriz, Aliasgar Abbaszadeh, head of East Azerbaijan customs, Younes Jaleh, chairman of the board of directors of the Tabriz Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture, Mohammad Ebrahimi, head of the North-West Representation of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mete Zaimoglu, Consul General of Türkiye in Tabriz, the staff of the Consulate General, and citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan living and studying in Tabriz.

The dear memory of those who became martyrs for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence, after which a video clip dedicated to Victory Day was shown. A photo exhibition reflecting the significance of Victory Day was also organized.

Speaking at the event, Consul General Taleh Zohrabov said that the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan had been forever engraved in memory as one of the most important pages in Azerbaijan’s history.

T. Zohrabov said that the political will, decisive leadership and multifaceted diplomatic activity of Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, had been the fundamental principle of our Victory, and noted that the brilliant Victory won by the heroic Azerbaijani Army on the battlefield under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev had opened new pages in the world’s military history.

Noting that November 8 – Victory Day is a symbol of the unity of the Azerbaijani people, the power of our state, the multifaceted development strategy being implemented, and our national will, T. Zohrabov pointed out that the liberation of our formerly occupied territories from the enemy was written in golden letters in our glorious history as the most important historic achievement carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the history of the independent Azerbaijani state founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev on a solid foundation.

The participants of the event were informed about the large-scale restoration and construction work being carried out in the liberated territories, newly established production enterprises, road infrastructure, the return of local residents to their native lands, the peace agenda, and cooperation in the region.

It was also noted that the 132-kilometer section of the Azerbaijan-Iran state border was liberated from occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War, and that the large-scale construction work currently being carried out in those territories, as well as the automobile and railway lines being built, along with the “Agband-Kalala” road bridge over the Araz River, whose construction is nearing completion on the border, would further expand economic cooperation ties between the two countries, as well as between their bordering regions.

At the end of the event, an official reception was organized by the Consulate General.
