Gadi Eisenkot, leader of Israel's opposition Yashar party, has stated that if Likud and its allies want to form a unity government, they must end their alliance with extremists and join a government led by him, APA reports.

According to Eisenkot, it is essential for Likud to end its political cooperation with its current allies in order to form such a government.

It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated that the time had come to establish a unity government in the country.

Eisenkot secured the support of 67 out of 120 lawmakers during consultations with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The president is expected to announce the name of the candidate tasked with forming a new government on Sunday.
