Ensuring reliable protection of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan, measures to combat potential threats at the state border, illegal drug trafficking, and smuggling are ongoing, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
On September 29, as a result of the joint operations conducted by the State Security Service and the State Border Service, a large amount of narcotic substances was prevented from being smuggled to the territory of the country.
In the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment, an unidentified flying object moving from the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Republic of Azerbaijan was observed.
As a result of the measures taken, the flying object was detained. During the inspection of the package attached to it, a total of 19 kilograms and 700 grams of marijuana and 1500 methadone M-40 pills were found.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the case are ongoing.
