A large quantity of narcotic substances has been detected at the Astara Customs Office and removed from illegal circulation, APA reports.
58 kilograms 610 grams of hashish and 89 kilograms 705 grams of marijuana were discovered in a vehicle transporting a cargo of “celery and lettuce” from Iran to Russia in transit through the country. In total, more than 148 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized.
During inspection with a stationary X-ray system, since suspicious contours were observed, the cargo vehicle underwent a detailed customs inspection with the involvement of a canine service dog. As a result, narcotic substances concealed from customs control were found on two pallets inside the vehicle.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
