In December 2025, the State Border Service successfully carried out measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat smuggling, illegal migration, and the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
19 individuals were detained during the month for violating the state border. Of them, 6 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Pakistan, 2 of Algeria, 1 of Bangladesh, 2 of Afghanistan, 1 of Iran, 1 of Georgia, 1 of Türkiye, 1 of Iraq, and 1 of Djibouti.
As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 6 individuals attempting to cross the state border using forged date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to others, were detained. For violating border regime rules, 74 individuals were detained, and appropriate measures were taken against them. As a result of crime-fighting measures, 359 individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities; the departure from the country of 579 individuals banned from leaving was prevented, and the entry into the country of 64 individuals banned from entry was also prevented.
As a result of measures to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, 331 kilograms and 53 grams of narcotic substances and 1,548 pills classified as potent drugs containing narcotic substances were detected and removed from circulation.
As a result of measures to combat smuggling activities, contraband goods with a total value of 5 million 32 thousand 289 manats, including medicines, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products, were detected and seized.
