Russian Azeri businessmen detained in Azerbaijan

APA reports quoting the text of the letter that an activist of Azerbaijani diaspora unit in Russia, Russian citizen Shamil Ajdar Gurbanov was detained in Azerbaijan several days ago. Shamil Gurbanov is known in Moscow for as charitable businessman.
â€œHe was many times awarded â€œMaecenas of the yearâ€, â€œMaecenas of the millenniumâ€ for his active involvement in public life of Azerbaijan and Russia. He defrayed expenses for study of several students in higher education institutions in Russia and Azerbaijan, provided hundreds of Azerbaijanis facing migration problems with jobs,â€ the letter says.
Shamil Gurbanov is also reported to be executive secretary of Yedinaya Rossiya party branch in Pechatniki region. The authors of the letter ask for unbiased investigation into the causes of Gurbanovâ€™s arrest.
Saleh Khudiyev, president of Interaz TV company told APA the businessman was detained border checkpoint of Ganja international airport. He is reported to be held in Interior Ministry department to fight organized crimes. Gurbanov is from Agjabedi region. He came to Azerbaijan to attend the funeral of his brother.
The State Border Service refused to answer APAâ€™s question regarding the issue. /APA/
