Ministry of Internal Affairs: “396 criminal groups and 9 criminal gangs have been disarmed in Azerbaijan this yearâ€
Eyvazov said that the comprehensive measures were characterized with the decease of criminal activity of different subjects, and generally, contributes to positive results of operational and service activity. During reporting period, the crimes registered by the law-enforcement and prosecution agencies decreased by 1.5%, deliberate murders and attempts to it decreased by 3.8%, crimes committed with fire weapons – by 15.9%, robberies – by 33.3%, plunders – by 3.5%, thieveries – by 18.4%, pickpocketing – by 28%, traffic accidents – by 6.3%, the unlawful acts committed by minors decreased by 7.2%, collective cries – by 5.8%, including crimes committed by a group of already convicted persons – by 25.3%.
Deputy Minister underlined that 11,953 crimes were recorded and 95% (11,343) of them were unlawful acts. 89% of these crimes are misdemeanor or less grave crimes. Only 11% of them are grave and high crimes. Crime detection rate improved by 3.8% and increased to 87.2%, number of solved crimes was 10% or 861 facts. At the same time, detection rate of grave and high crimes was 7.5%, detection rate of deliberate murders was 8.9%, detections rate of blackmail with use of threat was 12.5%, detection rate on the facts of robberies – 4.8%, plunders – 8.1%, thieveries, including pickpocketing – 10.2% and 14.3% respectively. In general, rate of detection of crimes against property improved by 10.5%. 212 unsolved crimes were solved, 487 crimes were solved without delay and 1796 crimes were solved with the use of scientific and technical means with the prosecution agencies.
During the reporting period, 396 criminal groups, consisting of 1030 persons, including 49 people united in 9 organized groups, were neutralized as a result of special operation actions and 55 persons were brought to criminal actions due to illegal storage and trafficking of firing arms. The positive tendency in searching of accused persons was recorded and it increased by 2.8% and made 51.2 % during the reporting period. 1053 local, intergovernmental and international wanted persons, including 47 persons, absconding in CIS and other foreign countries, were detained, 23 persons were also identified, being wanted by Interpol National Bureau Centre and the member-states of this organization. The work, against transnational organized criminal cases, such as drugs and human trafficking, was carried out. 317 kg of illegal narcotic drugs were seized, 26 criminal groups, consisting of 63 persons, were neutralized, the smuggling of 27 kg of narcotic drugs to our republic was prevented. 236 tones of narcotic drugs, consisting of green plans (marihuana), were annihilated within “Khash-khash†prophylactic-search operations.
