Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General announces its report on combating corruption in the country in the first half of this year

The Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General considered 1328 appeals of citizens in the first half of 2012, said Kamran Aliyev, Chief of the Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General, at the press conference today, APA reports. According to him, the 27 appeals and 83 other reports (generally 110) were considered as having criminal character. The criminal cases were launched on 61 (55,45%) of them.

â€œ161 Hot lineâ€ of the Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General received 2624 appeals during the reporting period.

The department researched attentively the complaints of citizens, restored their violated rights and took significant measures towards protection of human and civil rights and freedoms.

A part of appeals received by the â€œHot lineâ€ were sent to the ministries, committees, organizations and relevant district (city) prosecutorâ€™s offices and relevant measures were take by the above-mentioned structures.

More than 1000 appeals, complaints and applications were solved positively, the preventive measures were taken and criminal cases were launched for 20 appeals on different articles of the Criminal Code.

At the same time, the presentations were given to the corresponding organizations for the purpose of preventing the law violations found during the researches conducted in the department on the appeals received by the â€œHot lineâ€, several employees were punished, the necessary measures were taken for preventing the law violations.

The authors of more than 1800 complaints dealing with corruption were given wide explanations in civil, family, flat, administrative and other law-spheres where their rights were violated.

Aliyev also mentioned that 236 appeals were received by the department due to operational actions on committed or preparing criminal cases, 36 of them were written applications of citizens. 26 officials were detained red handed and criminal cases were launched on them.
