Baku. Ramil mammadli – APA. Members of Monitoring Group of Human Rights Protection Organizations held a press conference on the report prepared by PACE co-rapporteur Christopher Strasser on political prisoners concerning Azerbaijan.

APA reports that Saida Gojamanli said the report was presented in PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights on June 26, list consisting of names of 89 persons was announced. She said that the negative cases, violations were permitted during the preparation of the report: “For example, the item numbers passed from 71 to 73, from 75 to 78. Besides, 17 people who were in the list during its presentation, have been already released. Some of them were released last year or early in the year. The list includes also employee of “Texnikabank” Elnur Seyidov and editor-in-chief of “Khural” newspaper Avaz Zeynalli. Though we consider Zeynalli as a potential political prisoner, w can’t officially announce it without the court decision.

Gojamanli said that the monitoring committee prepared report consisting of names of 10 people after the last pardon order: “In addition, we prepared one more report including the “Group of Said Dadashbeyli” and names of islamists. Besides, we have a list including the names of Ali Insanov, Farhad Aliyev, Telman Ismayilov and Vidadi Isgandarov.

She noted that the Strasser’s list includes names of people participating in the terror act committed in Baku metro in 1990s: “This list includes unknown persons”.

Member of the Monitoring Group Saadat Bannanyarli noted that the list of Strasser was prepared non-objectively.

Member of the group Novella Jafaroglu commented on reports about prevention of protection of imprisoned members of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan and the other Islamic organizations in Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights: “I grew up in the family where the Islam’s requests were seriously observed. The mosque in the centre of Nakhchivan was built by my grandfather. I announce that members of our monitoring group will meet with imprisoned akhunds and religious figures in near future.”

Jafaroglu noted that these persons will not be able to represent Azerbaijan with such jealousy as human right activists: “In our steps, we think not about the Azerbaijani authority but state of Azerbaijan, because all these unreal lists and reports threaten the state.

The resolution made in the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights was adopted by 26 votes in favor and 22 votes against and will be submitted to the autumn session of the committee for review.
