Ramil Usubov releases statistics of crimes occurred over last 18 years in Azerbaijan

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov â€“ APA. Azerbaijani Interior Minister released the statistics of crimes occurred over the last 18 years in the country. APA reports that in his speech during the solemn ceremony held today in the Interior Ministryâ€™s Police Academy, dedicated to the professional holiday of Azerbaijani police and graduation in 2011-2012, Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov said that more than 24,000 criminal groups and organizations have been disarmed as a result of operational search actions since 1994. More than 40,000 illegal arms were seized and number of crimes committed by its usage decreased by 11 times. More than 80,000 convicted persons were detained, more than 6 tons drugs were withdrawn from the turnover.

Usubov said that 90% of illegal acts recorded every year are the less serious crimes that donâ€™t commit a public threat. Number of serious and especially serious crimes, including deliberate murder and attempts to it, robberies, plunders, thefts and etc. in Azerbaijan is 2-10 times lower than in European, American and Asian countries.

Minister said that President Ilham Aliyev always attached special importance to staff training and several days ago during the graduation event at the task force education center, the Head of State emphasized the training of young resources as one of the main factors.

It was noted that every year dozens of young people are sent to get education in the police and military academies of Turkey, law universities of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, famous universities of the UK, People’s Republic of China and the other countries within the framework of the cooperation with law-enforcement bodies of these countries. As a result of special attention and care to the staff training, special figure of employees with high education serving in the posts of average and senior chief staff increased from 58% to 90% in comparison to 1992, as well as the number of lawyers in their composition increase from 33% to 76%.

As results of complex measures, the rule of law in police organizations has become importantly stronger and high moral-psychological preparation of the personnel was achieved. Last year, the number of complaints on police officers reduced 26%, unreasonable detentions 32%, unreasonable bringing 46% and unreasonable criminal responsibility 60% in comparison with 2010.
