Azerbaijani Prosecutorâ€™s Office and Interior Ministry issue statement on Guba incidents

Press services of Azerbaijani Prosecutorâ€™s Office and Interior Ministry issued statement on incidents occurred in Guba region: â€œThe statement of the Interior Ministry says: â€œAbout 1000 Guba residents, who accepted the words of chief of Guba region Executive Power Rauf Habibov at the meeting dedicated to the discussion of social issues, which was held on November 22, last year as disrespect, held a protest action outside the administrative building of the Executive Power at 10.00 on March 1, 2012.

At first the rally wasnâ€™t directed to the violation of order and had a character of support to state-building. Then the rally passed to the violation of public order, destruction of private and state property, use of violence on the citizens. The windows of the first and second floors of the Executive Powerâ€™s building and the devices there were broken, several constructions and private house of the mayor were burnt.

Separate protesters, who didnâ€™t obeyed the legal demands of the governmental representatives, injured 3 police officers there.

The police and Interior forces could restore the public order and control the situation.

The staff of General Prosecutorâ€™s Office and Interior Ministry arrived in the site.

The criminal case has been launched into the fact by Guba Region Prosecutorâ€™s Office, the investigation is underway.
