According to him, the icings in Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea began to decrease due to temperature rise. Especially, the icing flow from the north decreased. There is no more icing in the Sumgayit and Nasosnu coasts. The small ice islands are seen 100-150 meter off the coast.

Mahmudov said that thin ice layer is still in 30-40 meter off the Nabran coast:
“This thin layer will melt as temperature rises in the country in the near future.”

Mahmudov also said that the ice floats can’t cause risk for oil platforms: “The current ice floats can’t cause risk. If this icing continues, it will be cause risk. The rising of temperature in the country lifted the risk”.
