Abid Sharifov: “The splits in landslide area will be filled with clay and reinforcement and isolation work will be conducted thereâ€
Sharifov said everyone knows that this territory is a landslide zone. “This territory is known as a landslide area for years. A large landslide occurred there in 2000. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has reported about the situation in the area every quarter during these 10 years. On August 16, we received a report informing about the intensification of the changes. We consider that relevant measures should be taken in the area to prevent landslideâ€.
Deputy Prime Minister said the splits would be filled with clay and reinforcement and isolation work would be conducted there. “These measures will be taken to prevent water course there. The work will cover hundreds of meters of territory. We will increase the number of concrete water channels in the area to prevent shattered backgrounds. The water flow creates danger in the landslide area. There are private vegetable gardens located in the upper part of the area and farmers regularly irrigate the gardens. We will prevent it. Undoubtedly, relevant measures will be taken in the lower part of the area, which is the site of road construction.
Abid Sharifov said the results of the examination will be publicized in two or three days.
“After that we will continue taking measures,†he said.
Asked whether the nearby construction caused the landslide, Deputy Prime Minister said:
“There is no decision banning construction in the zone of landslide. Special measures must be taken for construction in the zone of landslide. The permission must be given after the experts examine it,†he said.
He said relevant measures are being taken in the construction in the lower part of the landslide zone.
“Piles have been placed at 30 meters deep,†he said.
Abid Sharifov said the ring road was constructed from Azneft square towards Bayil in order to prevent landslide.
According to Deputy Prime Minister, the landslide is also connected with the large amount of precipitation this year.
“This also causes tension of the situation. Anyway we will make efforts to prevent the landslide process,†he said.
