According to APA, 112 hotline communication and Crisis Management Center’s 112 call service were established according to the order issued by President Ilham Aliyev for organizing the work of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on February 28, 2006. 112 call service is considered as one of the steps made for security of the people and prevention of accidents and elimination of the result of natural disasters.

112 call center can receive calls via inner communication lines in Baku, Sumgayit cities and Absheron district, throughout the country via GSM (Azercell, Bakcell, Nar Mobile) or CDMA wireless phone and all types of coin-box telephone. The service is free. 112 service is working in 24-hour regime and informing the relevant agencies for taking urgent measures.

The phone operators of this service receive 10-15 000 calls a day, APA reports quoting the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ website. 150-200 of these calls contain concrete appeals, which are immediately directed to the addresses. 112 directed more than 32 000 calls in 2007-2010. There are 10 operators, radio communication engineer and controller working in the service, which was provided with Tetra MTM-700 digital, CM-360, CP-160 analogue radio stations. Two monitors were installed there and all rooms were provided with computers and digital phones. Mini-automatic phone station and 2 Mbit additional optic communication line was installed there to organize uninterrupted call reception.
