Ramil Usubov: Azerbaijan took the leading position in CIS, as well as Eastern Europe in terms of maintenance of public order and results of fight against crimes in 2010

APA reports that Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov also attended the meeting.

Ramil Usubov said the republicâ€™s interior bodies did much in the past year to combat crimes and ensure public order.
â€œThe number of the crimes, particularly the grave crimes continued to reduce in the reporting year. Azerbaijan took the leading position in CIS, as well as Eastern Europe in terms of maintenance of public order and results of fight against crimes in 2010,â€ he said.

It was also noted that fight against organized crimes, its transnational forms was systematic in 2010. The indicators of crime solving was high in 2010, progress was made in solving premeditated murders and kidnapping. Hundreds of old crimes were solved through 102 service and as a result of the operations carried out together with the prosecuting bodies. A number of crimes were solved, thousands of administrative offences against traffic rules, traffic accidents were determined with the application of the video observation devices by the â€œSafe cityâ€ Service.

Quick reaction team commander, Colonel Sahlab Bagirov made report about the work done during the reporting period. He noted that duties in the fields of crime control and prevention of law infringements, as well as public order security, protection of human rights and freedoms have been purposefully continued. Staff of quick reaction team detained 1251 criminals, including 4 rapists, 8 murderers, 17 robbers, 31 who seriously damage peopleâ€™s health, 32 swindlers, 253 hooligans, 276 drug smugglers, 289 thieves and 287 wanted persons. 14 554 persons were brought to administrative responsibility. Patrols confiscated one automatic weapon, three pistols, three sport guns, five grenades, 456 bullets.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov delivered final speech at the meeting and said the quick reaction team fulfilled important duties in the fields of crime control, public order and public security, particularly security during the mass events. The coordinated activity of law-enforcement bodies caused reduction of crimes, reliable protection of stability in the country and this secure situation and tranquility was beneficial for everyone.
