Russian Federal Service for Drug Control and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of National Security sign cooperation agreement on drug traffic control -<font color=red> UPDATED</font>

According to him, the cooperation is conducted on the basis of the plan adopted by Russian and Azerbaijani relevant organizations. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of National Security and Russian Federal Service for Drug Control signed cooperation agreement on drug traffic control.

Ivanov said that as a result of cooperation between both countries, large hashish smuggling from Iran to Russia via Azerbaijan was prevented. 1 ton of hashish were found and confiscated from smugglers during the operation.

Ivanov said hashish smuggling attempts have been increased. “During the meeting with the Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan he noted that today there are more attempts for hashish smuggling and this drug is smuggled mostly from Iran. We confiscate larger run of hashish every year. 3 t of hashish was confiscated in 2009, 3.5 t last year”.

The director of the Russian Federal Service for Drug Control said today most part of narcotic drugs smuggled to Russia from Afghanistan. “Today Afghanistan produce double of heroin produced in the world 10 years ago. Earlier Morocco took leading place”.
