The clashes between internally displaced persons and local residents in Terter region of Azerbaijan were calmed down, acting police chief of the region Izzet Asgarov told APA. He said the confrontation began on June 15. A group of internally displaced persons from Shotlanli village of Terter region scuffled with the local residents. “The internally displaced persons were beaten by the local residents. Police is investigating that incident. Today the beaten IDPs came to the center of the region and attacked the locals”. Asgarov said several people including two police officers were injured during the clashes. “Police immediately took security measures. Officials of the Interior Ministry also arrived in the region. The clashes were calmed down and everything is under the control”, said Asgarov.

The acting police chief said the incident was investigated under the article 220 (mass unrests). “The investigation is going on. According to the preliminary reports, the confrontation was based on the disputes over the personal terms”.

The incident took place at about 15.00 on Tuesday. Eight people were injured during the clashes between the internally displaced persons from Shotlanli village of Terter and local residents. Two police officers – chief of the criminal investigation department Major Ilgar Farajov and other officer of the department Major Hasan Mammadov were also injured and hospitalized. Four local residents participated in the clashes were detained.
