Sub-commissions for eliminating consequences of natural disaster established at Sabirabad meeting of Azerbaijani governmental commission - PHOTOSESSION

Minister said that according to the decision, the sub-commissions are the following: transportation, communication, melioration, energy, water management, emergency situations. Kamaladdin Heydarov said the sub-commissions have been given instructions concerning the restoration of the houses, payment of the damage.

The sub-commissions have been told to inform the governmental commission about the work done within three days.
â€œThe activities will continue. We suppose that the sub-commissions, which have been set up in connection with the reinforcement of the dams, supply of drinkable water, restoration of the energy, field of gas, will soon start functioning,â€ he said.

Minister said the flooded houses built between the dams will not be restored.
â€œIn stead of it, houses will be built in safer areas. Villages and settlements will be built in safe places. It will possibly take much time. The buildings, houses constructed along the banks of the Kur, Araz rivers, between the dams will be removed to safer places. No one can guarantee that these houses will not be flooded in future.

The row brick houses will be replaced by more stable buildings. The stone-built houses will also be secured and repaired and the population will return to their homesâ€.

Heydarov said some commissions established at the meeting were urged to start restoration of the villages not threatened by floods. â€œThe territories will be selected with consent of the elders. The houses will be built there in a short period and population will be settled in the new housesâ€.

The minister said according to the presidential order, a relevant program was elaborated for construction of hydro-technical installations on the banks of Kur and Araz rivers.

The government commission on elimination of the natural disaster results held its meeting in Sabirabad on Thursday. Deputy Prime Minister Abdi Sharifov chaired the meeting. Members of the government commission â€“ Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov, Minister of the Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Ali Abbasov, Chairman of the State Property Committee Karam Hasanov, Chairman of the State Mapping and land Committee Garib Mammadov, CEO of Azerenergy Company Etibar Pirveridyev, CEO of Melioration and Water Facility Company Ahmad Ahmadzadeh, deputy ministers and local officials of the Kur-Araz regions attended the meeting.
