Azerbaijan secures extradition of two accused persons from Russia

Two more accused persons have been extradited to Azerbaijan, APA reports, citing the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002, requests by the Prosecutor General’s Office for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizens Nahid Alijanli and Renad Orujov were granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

Nahid Alijanli was reasonably suspected of evading military service while serving as an extended active-duty serviceman in a criminal case under preliminary investigation by the Gubadli Military Prosecutor’s Office. Renad Orujov was reasonably suspected of committing fraud causing substantial damage in a criminal case under preliminary investigation by the Nizami District Police Department of Baku. Decisions were made to charge both individuals as accused persons, and they were placed on the interstate wanted list after absconding from the investigation.

Both individuals were detained in the Russian Federation and brought to the Republic of Azerbaijan by the relevant bodies of the Ministry of Justice.
