Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament: â€œWe wish OSCE to be powerful and justâ€

APA reports that O. Asadov firstly spoke about indicators regarding Azerbaijan’s commitments before the Organization at the 23^rd summer session of the OSCE PA in Baku.

He noted that Azerbaijan has formed legislation meeting modern standards, all parameters of the civil society have been ensured: “Today, the political stability, development and security are at high level. One of the main duties of the state is to ensure security of its citizen and Azerbaijan is doing it”.

Asadov also made concrete demands before the OSCE: “The OSCE should be an organization taking concrete steps for the settlement of the conflict, not only having dialogue in this direction. Settlement of the conflicts which threat peace and stability in Europe should be the most important issue on the agenda of the organization. At the same time, it should take concrete steps for settlement of the Nagorgo Karabakh conflict in the South Caucasus. Unfortunately, all documents adopted on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, are still remaining unfulfilled”.

The Speaker addressed to the Armenians participating in the session: “I want to focus on the OSCE in this issue. Helsinki principles which have been chosen as a motto of the summer session of the OSCE are roughly violated by Armenians. World community and the OSCE have not unambiguously assessed it, yet. Azerbaijani side is concerned about it. Azerbaijan expects OSCE to seriously increase its efforts. The agenda of the summer session of the Assembly includes a draft resolution on violation of Helsinki principles. Azerbaijan is loyal to all principles of the Helsinki Final Act. However, there are no any response by OSCE PA to violation of basic principles of this Act by Armenians. Why? Armenia often speaks about self-determination of the peoples. However, they roughly hide that the peoples should self-determine within the territorial integrity. We repeatedly stated that the highest status can be granted to Nagorno Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. However, Armenia does not agree with it either. Based on all these, there is no response by the international organizations on the violation of Helsinki Final Act by Armenia. We demand that the international organizations should put an end to the double standards”.

Thereafter, O. Asadov delivered an official message to the OSCE: “Taking an opportunity, I want to deliver my only wish on behalf of Azerbaijani parliament to you: We want the OSCE to be powerful and just”.
