The NATO Council approved a €27 billion plan to modernize military fuel depots, pipelines, and transportation and distribution systems through 2031. This was stated in a statement released by the organization's press service, APA reports.
"The NATO Council today approved a plan to develop the capabilities of the NATO fuel supply system. This €27 billion investment will modernize the existing fuel storage and distribution infrastructure. This plan will enable the construction of new pipelines, including in the east and southeast of the Alliance, and provide NATO forces with the energy resources they need to maintain full combat readiness," the document states.
In fact, this is the first such large-scale plan since the Cold War to modernize the rear supply system for NATO forces with fuel and lubricants.
This plan was adopted as part of the coordination of the bloc's budget and military programs until 2031.
