Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has also been invited to the festivities, reporter of Milliyyet newspaper Serpil Cevikcan said.
An unnamed government official said that a multi-ethnic group of young people, including Armenians have fought in the Battle of Canakkale and become martyrs. “Anyway, we have fought together, therefore Sargsyan was also invited”, he said.
Cevikcan reports that invitation was sent to the heads of all participant states in World War I. On April 23, Peace Summit is planned to be held in Istanbul with the participation of heads of states. A commemoration ceremony will be held in Canakkale on April 24.
