Samad Seyidov: â€œPACE Presidentâ€™s behavior during the adoption of decision on Azerbaijan will be considered by the PACE Committee on Rules of Procedureâ€

Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli – APA. The PACE Bureau has today held a meeting. Several issues on Azerbaijan were discussed at the meeting.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov who participated in the meeting told APA’s Europe bureau that three decisions were passed on Azerbaijan.

“Three main decisions were passed on Azerbaijan at today’s meeting. First, the speech by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his responses to the questions of PACE’s members were discussed. Mr. President’s responses were especially discussed and supported. Second, PACE President, Mrs. Anne Brasseur’s behavior contrary to the rules of procedure of the assembly during the meeting held on Monday was discussed. This issue will be considered by the PACE Committee on Rules of Procedure. Mrs. Brasseur told journalists yesterday that as if she did everything in accordance with the procedures, the voting on the issue of political prisoner in Azerbaijan was held in line with the rules and we were informed in advance about the start time (13:15) of dinner”.

S. Seyidov said that his letter addressed to Anne Brasseur was also discussed at the Bureau: “Members of Bureau also raised a question that Mrs. Brasseur can not treat so in such sensitive issues. Because the decision passed by the Assembly related to Mcnamara’s document included a number of unexplained points. These points should be reviewed by the PACE Committee on Laws and Rules of Procedure”.

Seyidov noted that the Bureau discussed three documents submitted by MP Elkhan Sulaymanov, including the document related to Nagorno Karabakh: “Totally, three documents on the conflict and imposition of sanctions on Armenians were reviewed at the Bureau’s meeting and none of these documents were removed from the agenda. We had such a risk that these documents will be removed from the agenda and not be discussed. Simply, as today’s meeting was the last meeting of the Bureau before the summer holiday, it was decided that all three documents should be considered at the Bureau’s meeting in September”.
